SWCM Host Chairman Mike Zenner of BLET Division 130 would like to invite everyone to Kansas City, MO on September 13-17 for the 74th SWCM to be held at the Hyatt Crown Center.
Events include a Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament on Sunday the 13th, on Monday the 14th the golf tournament will be held at the Adams Point Golf Club, also a tour of the Arabia Steamboat, plenty of shopping at The Plaza and Crown Center and exhibits and shows at Union Station. On Tuesday the 15th we will be going to the Ameristar Casino for supper and gambling and on Wednesday the 16th we will have the banquet and be entertained by The Atlantic Express band. About the Arabia Steamboat Museum
This cargo steamboat, laden with 220 tons of merchandise destined for settlers out west, sank in the Missouri River in 1856, where it remained preserved in cold mud until it was excavated in the 1980s. A virtual time capsule of the 1850s and one of the best collections of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world, the museum provides a fascinating look at frontier life, with displays of the steamboat's cargo, from china and hardware to jewelry and leather boots (900 shoes and boots alone are on display).
